Bernese Mountain Dogs

  • Bernese are big, powerful, and built for hard work. They are also strikingly beautiful and blessed with a sweet, affectionate nature. Berners are known for being gentle and even tempered. They live to please their owners and are always up for a walk.

  • The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large, sturdy worker who can stand over 27 inches at the shoulder. Berners are a large breed dog. Standard weight for Males is from 90-120 Lbs. And for Females it is between 70-90 Lbs. They have a thick, silky, and moderately long coat which is tricolored: jet black, clear white, and rust. The distinctive markings on the coat and face are breed hallmarks and, combined with the intelligent gleam in the dark eyes, add to their aura of majestic nobility.

  • Bernese are a hardy dog who thrives in cold weather. They are very intelligent and use their brain and brawn help them to multitask whether on the farms of Switzerland where they originated or at home in the city.

  • Berners get along with the entire family and are particularly gentle with children, but they will often become more attached to one lucky human.

  • Their average lifespan is 6 to 8 years average. But with dedicated breeding practices we aim to greatly improve this number.

Our Lovely Ladies

Selah Rose

Selah was our very first Dam. She's a sweet girl with a sunny and energetic personality. She is playful, fun and the vocal one of the group. When she's not playing with the other dogs, she enjoys being brushed and pampered. Selah is a wonderful Mama who is very loving, attentive and nurturing with her puppies.

Handsome Gents

Augustus Avalanche

We love all our animals at Ozark Mountain Dogs, but our sire Augustus Avalanche, affectionately referred to as "Gus", holds a very special place in our hearts. He was our first Berner baby. He truly edifies all of the greatness of the Bernese Mountain Dog breed. Gus is strong, handsome, affectionate, gentle, loyal and good natured.
